Who is Jesus?
As an Elim Church, we at Beeston Oasis believe in the Foursquare Gospel. What does this mean?
Jesus is the Son of God - According to the Foursquare Gospel, Jesus Christ, the Son of God, died on the cross to bear the penalty for the sins of humanity. Belief in his atoning death brings forgiveness, salvation, and eternal life.
Jesus baptises in the Holy Spirit - The Baptism with the Holy Spirit is the second of the four tenets on which the Foursquare Gospel is founded. When Jesus ascended, he gave the Holy Spirit to dwell in believers. This Spirit is the secret to the church's power and serves as counsellor, guide, comforter, and Christ's real presence on earth.
Jesus is a healer - The Foursquare Gospel teaches that Christ's healing ministry continues today. While on earth, Jesus went about healing people of physical, emotional, and spiritual ills. By the power of the Lord Jesus, who is the same yesterday, today, and forever, he continues to heal the sick and the afflicted in answer to believing prayer. Healing of the body, soul, and spirit is one of the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
Jesus is the Coming King - Foursquare Gospel theology acknowledges the biblical promise that Jesus Christ will come again. His Second Coming will be soon and will be a joyful time for believers. For this reason, the church places emphasis on sending out missionaries and diligently building up the church.
